Artist Statement:
These works explore the nonverbal and energetic connection between animals, family, and space, delving into the ways these dynamics shape our understanding of belonging. Animals, whether companions or extensions of the natural world, occupy a unique space in this human experience. Here, I illuminate the parallels between nurturing and protection within the symbiotic relationship we share with horses.
As a Texan having grown up around horses, they teach us about care, duty, resilience, and the cyclical nature of life and death – all threads of our own familial structures. Celebrating the beauty of this animal, I recognize them as a vital part of my family tapestry by threading areas of the shoes in these two works.
